Island life is about more than where you are—it’s about how you experience it.

There’s always something happening across the Gilis. Beneath the surface, coral is being restored. On the beach, yoga classes bring a little calm to busy island days. In cafés, artists turn everyday spaces into places for conversation and creativity. And, of course, there is always something good to eat, somewhere beautiful to stay and a sunset worth stopping for.

In this edition of mygilis, we take a closer look at some of the people, places and experiences that give the islands their character.

We dive beneath the waves to discover how visitors can get involved in coral propagation and play a small part in protecting the reefs they come here to enjoy. We meet yoga instructor Adipta Yoga Pantora and explore the idea of finding balance on Gili Trawangan, before sitting down with travelling artist Linelof, whose work and story remind us that art can be about freedom, connection and community.

Food, as always, plays a big part in island life. We meet Chef Stef of Il Baretto on Gili Air and hear how a love of Italian cooking, hospitality and tradition eventually brought her to the Gilis. We also take a look at Kopi Susu’s new Kuta home, where the relaxed island spirit meets a fresh café concept.

Whether you’re visiting for a few days or lucky enough to call the Gilis home, we hope this edition inspires you to explore, discover something new and, most importantly, enjoy island life.
